Just received this Cookbook, "The Original Country Cookbook" from my dear friend FarawayFriend. She knows I like cookbooks. This one she got several years ago on visit to U.S. and thought be nice for me to have.

The recpes are from many years ago from many sources. They represent country Americans adapting to local foods and early conditions.

Some of recipes are Venison Pot Roast and Vegetables, Mountaineer Hash, Fried Toamtoes, Fried Cabbage, Tomato Jam, Corn Cob Jelly, Mountain Vinegar Pie and Cottage Cheese Pie. Must try some of these and post recipes.

Thanks to Andrea for this book.

Sounds very interesting!
I bet the kitchen would smell heavenly, cooking some of those recipes!

Would love to see the venison pot roast recipe, as well as their fried tomatoes.
