Nominated by Jefferson Davis on May 30, 1864 as temporary brigadier to take over command for the wounded General Pegram. He was killed on that very day. His appointment was proved the next day.
From what I just read Terrill was killed on May 30, 1864 and his commission as brigadier general was confirmed on May 31, 1864.
