I have no problem believing that booth assisted in smuggling operations. The only source I could locate was asia but i could see something like this being kept quiet on his behalf it would have hurt him being able to travel. Luminaries of all types helped with the war effort how they could. Stonewall the head of the secret service though?

I will say one thing about threads like these, when caught in the right mood it gets me into the mood for reading. That's why I'm becoming a subject matter expert on the Lincoln assassination and I am a subject matter expert on the battle of dam no. 2

@Belfoured In seriousness, that docudrama based on "facts" (so-called) The Lincoln Conspiracy (which TCC undoubtedly uses as a source) depicts an agent under Stanton hiring Booth in a hotel. I haven't read Dark Union (by the movie's consultant/producer) to confirm where he got this. Out of his head, no doubt.

Because he assumes that Booth was stupid. The entire planet knew that Jackson's arm was amputated. Maybe Booth thought Stonewall had the reins in his teeth and his arm behind his back.

If you look back to the first statement on this thread, you will see that I did not say Booth met Davis on May 2. I said that the meeting was scheduled for May 2. I do not know when they met. I only know that it was proposed on May 2. Each party had to agree on the date and time.
