Stonewall Stonewall's death

I don't fact check most posts I simply have better things to do. If someone says something I know off the top of my head is inaccurate I'll gently correct and cite a source but that's just me.

No soldier with that name, or anything similar to it, served during the Civil War.

At some point threads like this should not just be locked, but deleted entirely.
This has been going on for a few months now. The author of the post paints a broad picture contrary to well-established history. The broad conspiracy narrative contains multiple assertions unsupported by primary sources. The historians among us know that this is either a fabrication or a delusion, but disproving it would require a time-consuming process of fact-checking.

One of the best functions of these conspiracy claims is to provide a target for humorous rejoinders.

Check around on CivilWarTalk and you will find plenty of serious discussions. Hope you're enjoying your participation here.

No, Booth was not playing Pescara in The Robbers. He played Charles D'Moor. Pescara is in the "Apostate." Congratulations—you got six thumbs up for an inaccurate statement.
If you look back to the first statement on this thread, you will see that I did not say Booth met Davis on May 2. I said that the meeting was scheduled for May 2. I do not know when they met. I only know that it was proposed on May 2. Each party had to agree on the date and time.
False. You said "Booth met with Davis on the same day Jackson was shot." It's bad enough that you simply make up facts. Claiming that you didn't post something that everybody can read in your post is at another level. Of course, it's obvious why you're now attempting to alter what you said in your first post. According to that post Davis and Booth met about Jackson's wounding before it happened.

Not the first backpedal from our host.

Beats your hundred dislikes for spreading unproven conspiracy theories. Congratulations!

The Confederacy was in desperate need of medicine. John Wilkes Booth smuggled quinine for fever and opium for pain to Stonewall Jackson. Stonewall Jackson was so impressed by Booth's contribution that he arranged a meeting with Jefferson Davis. That meeting was scheduled for May 2, 1863. When they met, Jefferson Davis made Booth a secret agent in the Confederate Army with the rank of Colonel.

A week after Jackson's death, Booth heard that he was shot in the back by one of his men. Upset, Booth investigated Jackson's murder. Booth believed he knew who killed Jackson—an eighteen-year-old who served three days in the stockade for insubordination. To get revenge, this eighteen-year-old shot Stonewall Jackson. Booth arranged to meet this soldier in the woods, where Booth took his life.

Do you believe the official account of Jackson's death?

Note:

Booth met with Davis on the same day Jackson was shot.

News traveled slowly. Booth was told Jackson was shot in the back. His information may have been inaccurate.
Yes.

What the hell did I just read

Just a reminder that if the author of the original post wants to be taken seriously he would be welcome to break down his broad revisionist narrative into smaller pieces and support each one with a primary source, providing a direct quote from the source, and providing a full citation of the source so that other members here can look it up.

For example, if one of the particular claims is that John Wilkes Booth was a CSA colonel, we would want to see a fully quoted primary source backing up this claim, along with a full citation.

Just to emphasize, 'Do your own research; all the information is available on the internet' is not a sufficient response if one wants to be taken seriously on CivilWarTalk. Unwillingness to back up one's assertions with evidence quoted and cited here reeks of dishonesty.

They are clearly not interested in engaging in a intellectual discussion of verifiable facts.

The best thing we can all do is ignore them

In a nutshell, Nostradamus Booth met with Jefferson Davis about Booth killing the guy who was going to shoot Stonewall in the back later that evening 60 miles to the north but then doing that only after Stonewall got shot in what Booth thought would be the back even though it wasn't.

I'm happy to announce you have made our lives better by explaining this very complex subject in the King's English with such grace, tact and beauty. Thank you. It's clearer than the water in my toliet.
