I had missed the fact that in addition to killing Jackson by shooting him in the back so that Jackson was wounded in both arms but not the back, it looks like Hemmingstad went AWOL from his unit to (unwisely) meet Booth where, even though Stonewall apparently was still alive, Booth executed him, which Jackson might have done anyway for desertion.

Jeez - Please follow along. DH Hill (Stonewall's b-in-law) was on the outs with Lee by May 1863. Lee viewed Stonewall as his "right arm". What better way for Harvey to get at Lee than by offing his "right arm"? No need to let family get in the way. The fact that one poster noted awhile ago that there is no record of a Hemmingstad ever existing is just proof of how the archivists have been in on the whole Booth coverup for 160 years.

This one is hard enough to follow without paying close attention. It's a good idea to get it straight before working in the Lincoln Assassination/Abe and Jeff Were Half-Brothers/Stanton's Little [ ]/Thomas Lincoln's Anatomy threads.
