Spice Tomato Cake

Spice Tomato Cake is a old time cake which my Granny made.

Spice Tomato Cake

1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix above ingredients well. Sift the following:

1 teaspoon baking powder and 2 cups flour,1/2 teaspoon each nutmeg, cinnamon and ground cloves. Fold together with first mixture. Bake 350 degrees.

Tomatoes and sugar seems to be a little odd,but having never tried this I cannot judge.
