Breechldrs Spencer Carbine hammer screw: Different threads?

I purchased a reproduction hammer and hammer screw for the Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. carbine that I have been restoring. Many of you have seen the intentionally-rusted finish of the hammer, which matches pretty well the finish of the other gun surfaces.

I also bought a tumbler and installed it, but its thread is not the same pitch as the hammer screw! Does anyone know the possible variations of the hammer screw / tumbler thread size and pitch?

Not a dumb question. Yes, everything is clean. To the best of my ability to measure them, the screw itself appears to be 28 tpi (threads per inch) while the tumbler (harder to measure!) appears to be 24 tpi. The screw fits the old (broken) tumbler.

I'm going to get some 24 tpi screws (any kind, but probably #8 or #10) to see if the thread matches.

Is the tumbler a repo or original?

It's a repro tumbler. A #10-24 screw fits perfectly, though now I need to get an actual hammer screw with that thread:

I found a hammer screw at Chiappa Firearms (reproduction) with the correct thread, and rusted it according to the "bobinwmass" + "Jeff in Ohio" recipe:

Oh, yes - this screw head matches the hammer and the rest of lock - you have made this look so much better than when you got it!
