I probably won't have time to get past the first page for a while, but super neat book I finally picked up on eBay for a decent price. Supposed to be first-hand accounts from about 150 different soldiers, mostly Union as I understand it, with a number of drawings. Many battles recounted, and then over 100 pages on GAR and auxiliary societies (WRC etc). 1892 copyright (Joseph Morton, Keystone Publishing, Philadelphia) and I have yet to see where it has been reprinted.
Seems like the type of book that, if handed as a kid, I would think I'd just been given a precious treasure from an old chest somewhere, or somehow gotten away with a book from the old guy's shop on The Never Ending Story. (Yes, you can infer that I'm thinking ahead for my 1yr-old!)
Can't wait to launch into this, and curious whether anyone on here has a copy of it and has read much. ?
