Well the Fabulous Five are going to Antietam/South Mountain for a 2 look.
I have been putting of this trip for a while (HOT) so if the weather holds,
and the creeks don't rise, we will be there on October 30-31.

Those interested feel free to jine us for this excursion.
9am both days at the NPS station.

OK, Boys and Girls. Lets tally up and see where we are. Time is getting close and we do have a new person going with us to South Mountain and Antietam.
Anyone interested come ahead on and jine in. Going to have a lot of fun!! :skip: :playfull: :running:

Well it looks as if there is going to be a Fabulous 6 on this trip. All is set and at this point it appears the weather will permit another beautiful weekend.

I believe South Mountain is really overlooked as discussion material. That was some terrible fighting.

Everyone is invited. South Mountain Friday, Antietam Saturday meet both days 9am NPS Headquarters.

Until then................

Agreed, and hope you have a good trip!

Only 2 problems ... It is a 30 hour trip and a few $s ... Sigh... One day.

Maybe we can do a "Go Fund Me" campaign going and get you up here?

I'm just back and we'll get some pictures posted. It was a great day. The biographer of Union General Jacob Dolson Cox agreed to join us and lead the tour. General Cox was the de facto commander of the Union 9th Corps at Antietam and his biographer knows a lot about the battlefield. I'm way smarter this evening then I was this morning.

I've got a signed copy of his book and now I'll have to read it! Looking forward to it for sure.

I am coming. Just don't know exactly when. Next May we think.

Yeah. In the east.
Sigh.:frown:

I will suppose that you, in your continent, are also faced with distance. Probably less than the distance from Mebourne to Perth, and with nicer country to cross, but it's still an impossible distance.
