Hi, I am trying to id the receiver from my sharps model 1870 type 1 army trials rifle

The receiver is from the civil war and I am trying to find out when it was made, what unit used it and if it saw service

The serial number is 91258

The barrel number is 192

Thanks

Neat rifle.

Like the rest of us Sharps military owners, you'll find searching old posts that the wartime serial numbers are dead ends - this according to the guy who has documented the Sharps.

You might luck out if someone runs your serial number on the Springfield Research Service lists, but that's a long shot.

How can I run mine on the SRS

Welcome from the Fort Sumter and the Fredericksburg forums.

I have a copy of the SRS but am not home to access it right now. I know @UCVRelics is good to review and let members know if their weapon is listed or not. He'll probably be along soon and let you know.

Its not listed. Below is the 912 range. Be advised that if its not listed it not listed and you can't read anything into it.
