I previously posted photos about a LG&Y rifled musket I bought. I'm now hoping someone can tell me about this 1859 Sharps. I have plans to buy this from the same seller. Can anyone tell me about this rifled musket? Also curious what would be a reasonable value.

Nice looking Sharps. Below is some info that will get you started. Also, there is a great book on Sharps.

I appreciate all the likes but am still hoping someone can tell me about the originality and overall condition of this carbine. It doesn't look like this went through any of the common "upgrades". I would also appreciate some sort of value or range of value for this piece. I am scheduling a meet up to buy it and eventually passing it to my son.

Overall its in good condition and appears to be all original plus the unit ID gives it more value. I don't like to give a value based on photos.

You didn't tell us how much he is asking it for $. I recently sold my 1859 Sharps for $1500 with a serial # a few thousand less than that one and in equal shape. I gave the guy a deal since he was buying many other of my items. Do an internet search of Dealers and see what their selling them for. UCVRelics mentioned that book, well I have that and 3 others in the for sale section of this website on ACW Carbines. Let me know if you want all 4 and I'll cut you a deal.

$1500 seems like a steal in my area. I do like to do research before making a purchase so as to not get burned. it's clean and appears original. Always open to learning more and other options.

As Richard stated above, appears to be in decent shape from what one can see in photos. Also cartouches are still halfway visible. Might be able to narrow it down. Check websites as mentioned above for comparisons and only you know what you are willing to spend

Is this SN listed in SRS? Please excuse my ignorance, but how do you know the Unit ID? Can you provide the Unit ID detail and any info you may have?
It is not listed. My bad as I was doing a Spencer for a guy and got them mixed up.
