Sharps 1863

Marvin, the rear sight on the Sharps now is the remnants of the original rear sight, and yes it was a ladder sight. S&S Firearms may have original replacement parts, but there is nothing wrong with as it is, because it is an old battle scarred veteran. I would leave it alone, other than perhaps look for a well used Sharps Carbine barrel band only because the one on it now isn't a Sharps band. All-in-all, I think you did well.

Awesome input from all of you guys. I've been chomping at to bits as to when my nephew would receive it. Was supposed to be on birthday in September. He just called me on Saturday 8/17 and told me his mom had given it to him. He is a very happy camper! I sent him links to this website and this thread, so I suspect he might be joining this conversation soon. Again, many thanks to all who have commented her. Have enjoyed it immensely!
Marvin
