I have a Sharps Carbine with the serial number 85509. Is there any way to find out which Cavalry unit this was issued to? I really appreciate any help you can offer.

Its not listed in the Sharps book.

Probably less then 10% of serial numbers are listed in the S.R.S. books. Close doesn't count except in horseshoes.

The list isn't totally comprehensive and as is often stated if it isn't listed it isn't listed and nothing can be speculated on from that fact
