Practical Uses for Reproduction Equipment?

I am aware that many living historians and re-enactors keep their uniforms and/or gear in cedar chests or hanging in a prominent place on a wall for militaristic decor, but does anyone else use their Civil War reproduction gear for practical applications?
I, for one, have found that my cartridge box makes a terrific case for my watercolors. The cartridge tins hold all the tubes, the inner pouch holds the 6-well palette, brushes and paper towel fit inside perfectly; and with one year in a pandemic lockdown, I have no other use for a beloved piece of equipment that would otherwise collect dust in the closet.

What a great question. I wear the shawl that I have, and the fingerless mitts. And some of the jewelry/hair combs on a regular basis. I just recieved a red wool petticoat, which I am tempted to wear under one of my fuller skirts for warmth at school!

I wear scarf and gloves with my normal clothing in winter, because they're so warm. I've used my haversack as a satchel a few times as well, and my canteen as a regular water bottle.
Ditto on the canteen! I have used mine on short hikes when I know I can replenish/drain the water before the day's end.

The repro Woolrich blanket I got at Antietam is often on my bed as a cover!
I've got a set of Civil War cutlery that fit together so the fork tines don't poke through, which I actually use.

The sack coat and wool trousers are warm! So if I need a wool layer around the house, I'll sometimes put one or the other on.

Most of my "kit" or equipage or gear is Texas Revolution, so actual use of stuff is limited to just a few items, like sometimes a haversack or boots or just shooting the smooth bore musket for fun...
