Planning my trip!!!

Hello Gang!,
I hope everyone is well! I'm here to ask for a little advice. I'm planning a trip to Antietam and Gettysburg with my daughter this coming April. We go to Gettysburg many times throughout the year and I have that covered. This will be our first trip to Antietam and we are really looking forward to it!!! Can someone suggest a decent hotel in the Antietam area? The plan is to go to Antietam for 2 or 3 days then up to Gettysburg from there.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

It's mostly bed and breakfasts in the immediate vicinity, but I normally stay in Hagerstown or Martinsburg when I go to Antietam. Frederick is another option, but I feel the pricing (and the traffic) is better in the first two.

Harper's Ferry is very close to Antietam and is well worth a visit. If you stay in Frederick there is Monocacy Battlefield and South Mountain is between Frederick and Antietam.

You said you are planning to go "this coming April?" Do you mean a year from now?

I agree with the above suggestions for lodging locations. I have tried most of them.

Depending on your budget, the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown is nice and only 5 minutes from Sharpsburg. Check both Brunswick and Hagerstown they are 25-30 minutes from the battlefield with lots of choices. Be sure to stop at Nutter's Ice Cream when in Sharpsburg, you won't be disappointed. Don't forget take bug spray, they're out in force now

I'd also recommend a stop in Harpers Ferry. It's a very picturesque town.
