Yes, they are spicy Navy Beans eaten for breakfast I am told, Heinz makes the mixture to England's liking and they are a specialty. They don't sell them here in America any more. Just to England.
As soon as I talk to my Grand I can probably give some more info.

Got it, over here they are called baked beans, and they are excellent, my kids love them. Beans on toast, it's a British thing.

never seen a bean pie but made a mush out of them with cornbread be it pinto, red, Black , lima ect. add some rice and fried skillet taters
