I was thinking about getting a powder flask to display with my 1841 Rifle. I was wondering are there a lot of reproductions (fakes) out there? and how much are real ones going for? Should real ones have inspector or makers marks? I saw a couple on ebay and have that were under a $100

Sadly yes, there are a lot of reproductions out there. The metal "peace" black powder flask has been mass reproduced since the early to mid twentieth century, with a lot of replicas coming out of Italy it seems. Most of the real ones were made in Springfield, Massachusetts, I believe.

It's imperative that you look the flask over for any markings like that, as I found one at an antique store going for $225 CAD, and it was almost clearly marked "made in Italy." Suffice to say I was disheartened that it wasn't original, but it was still in beautiful condition for being almost 100 years old. Original ones seem to go for up to $375, possibly more.

If you don't mind having a reproduction until you can get your hands on the real McCoy, by all means go for it.

Assuming your rifle is not a repro you probably want a period flask appropriate for the gun.
Expect to pay far more than $100 for it, assuming you want a period "Peace Flask" as the title of your thread suggests.

Here's one of the rarest {in this condition!} which would be perfect for a really nice condition {original} rifle. {It sold very quickly}

Let us know if you have an original 1841 rifle, and want an original {correct} flask, and I'll come back with details on how to spot a repro or a fake.

Here's a flask attached to a model 1841 ball bag and sling. It is not a Batty {made} flask, but a commercial, period copy.

Sorry but I don't know and Tim is on an extended road trip to do 3 different Antique Road Shows.

Here's one that's very nice:
