Got this recipe for lemonade from "The Country Register", Indiana May and June edition .

Old-Fashioned Lemonade

Fill a teapot full of water and bring to a boil. In a small saucepan, bring 1/4 cup water to a boil. Add 1/4 cup sugar; stir till dissolved. Add the zest of one lemon and one lime and the juice of 3 lemons and 3 limes to the sugar water. Stir and pour into 6 cup container. Add 5 cups boiling water; stir and chill. Serve with lots of ice and garnish with mint leaves or lemon balm.

So delicious!

Another treat to have in the summer is Lemon Ice Cream. This recipe is from about 1920. My Granny made this ice cream many a time.

2 eggs
2 cups milk, scalded
6 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon flavoring
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups cream

Beat eggs until yolks and whites are blended. Add sugar and salt, and mix well. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water until mixture coats a spoon. Remove from fire. Chill. Add flavoring, lemon juice and cream. Freeze.
