I have another question, the leather washer on my quillon has a small tear in it. I'm attaching pics. Since I don't handle the sword much, should do anything with it, or leave it be? I am leaving about a 1/16 of an inch space between the scabbard and washer just to be safe right now.

Just leave it alone - the century-and-a-half old leather has just become dried-out and resultantly brittle and that sliver has broken off; undisturbed, nothing else will likely happen to it.
