Just received this today from Shiloh Relics. 1863 dated M1860 Emerson & Silver inspected by D. F. M.

It looks like a good, representative M.1860; I owned one once, now many years ago. When I thinned out my collection back in the mid-80's I only kept my Ames. Emerson & Silver were notable for their M.1840 Musician and NCO swords because unlike the other contractors theirs had blued steel scabbards instead of the flimsy leather scabbards of the other makers.

Now you cooking. Can't go wrong with a nice early war dated piece.

Is this the first thing you have acquired for a collection? If so, let me warn you. Collecting is the worst drug ever. The addiction NEVER stops...
Ha! Mike yes it is, well, I do have a CW era nickle. I can see it will be. I'll be working on about a 4 sword, 1 bayonet or so collection for now. Unless something else hits me.....

You got a good one. I particularly like the grip which looks original. So many of these are dried out, worn through, or have other problems. This one shows enough wear that it likely saw the elephant, but still looks great.

Oh, something will hit you. Start out with a sword and eventually you want a uniform collection and your own cannon...:roflmao:

New spot for my Cavalry saber, just over my pic of an early slave quarters, supposedly framed with wood from a slave quarters in SW Georgia.

(PS Mods, on my computer, with this image, rotated or not, it ends up uploading upside down. None of my others did that?? if you can fix it please delete this part of the post.)

На мой взгляд, саблю будет выглядеть лучше на стене, если бы она была поставлена с обнаженным лезвием рядом с ножнами.
Или пересечь саблю с ножнами по краям рамки.

In my opinion, the sword will look better on the wall, if it was placed with a naked blade next to the scabbard.
Or cross the sword with the scabbard at the edges of the frame .

Cheers

Here is one I built out of cedar for my a few of my CS guns and had enough room for one of my CS swords. I made it out of cedar and the top and bottom cross pieces are on a 45 with led lights behind them and the lower cross piece can also be used to put info plaques. You can put what ever flag or backdrop you want. The weapons are zip-tied to the backboard and I used a C clamp to mount to the table but you could wall mount it. Let me know and I will send you the plans.
