Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and collecting CW relics so I could use your assistance in identifying these cartridge boxes, percussion cap boxes, holster, wooden hammer made by a CW veteran, etc. I know that the the nicest cartridge box with a oval US plate is a Dixie Gun Works reproduction, but I believe that everything else could be original. Any information about these items as well as good reference material that could help me out with this stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some pictures. The pictures might show the sizes being a bit off, so after I took the pictures, I measured them with with the measuring tape on them. The cartridge box with the breast eagle on the black sling is 7.5" x 5.75" x 2" and is marked J A Baker New York. The cartridge box with the white buff sling is 8" x 6.5" x 2"-2.25" and is marked H Dingee N York. This white buff sling is a bit suspect since it is only 2" wide and the other sling is 2.25". Perhaps you guys can enlighten me on it since it looks well weathered to look the part, but there is also a ghosted oval imprint left behind on the white buff sling with three slits where it looks like a belt buckle was put on it and worn for a good time. More pictures and information to come with more items.

Here is some measurements of the carbine box, percussion cap boxes, and the holster. The carbine cartridge box is 8" x 3.5"-4" x 2" and is marked E Gaylord Chicopee Mass. It is hard to see the marking due the old wax that has surfaced on the inside, but that is what it reads. Both of the percussion cap boxes measure 3.5" x 3.25" x 1.75" approximately. One has a visible mark, and has a tag attached stating that it is a Union percussion cap box circa 1863. The other percussion cap box is in worse shape and no markings are visible on it. I got smart and measured the holster with the measuring tape on it. Saldy, there are no marks visible on it and it is rather fragile and rough.

Great Looking items and they all look right as rain and have the markers and inspectors marks to prove it. Below is a GREAT book that covers all these items. As far as the white buff sling goes it has the inspectors mark WAT on the back as it should, just to confirm it let page @Package4

That wood hand carved hammer caught my attention could you post some photos of it along with any markings on it.

Thank you captaindrew. I plan on adding to it slowly. There is a bunch of "battle wood" with bullets lodged in them, grape shot, spencer cartridges, etc that will go with this stuff to fill up a curio cabinet....I just gotta find a good curio caninet that will wotk and not break the bank.

Hmm it looks like it, but I could easily be wrong since it is kind of broken up on the last name. Here a pretty good picture I got of the markings. Sorry it is taken at a wonky angle, but all the other angles tried resulted in a shiny spot on the piece.
