Need some help removing discoloration from rust

Well not perfect but did remove most of the rust. Still some inside the fuller. What a mess it made. Thought that several layers of that strong tape would hold the bottom. Stupid me, what a mess it made and heck to clean up. Still stained the sink after using everything I could think to clean it. Should of put it in a bucket. That rust has probably been there 200 plus years.

Now you get your dremel wire wheel or a bronzebrush and work at the rust -clear it out of the pits and and any engraving or stamping. It is never going to be 'mint'! Try and resist the use of any hard abrasives as this makes it look 'restored' - and removes much of the detail from the surface.

BTW - Sorry we forgot to mention that rust removal is messy - whichever method you use. If you think that was bad, try electro-removal. That is REAL messy. (Next time stand the pipe in an old tin or bucket. It saves having to duck when the No1 finds the mess.)

Yeah took the bronze or was it cooper brush to it. At this point I'll just oil it up and leave as is but if I get another blade/sword with that same problem I'll do the same thing. It worked better than all the other methods I tried to use.

Nice to know it works, isn't it? The more you do it the better the job and the easier it gets. (Beware - Then you get the one that drives you nuts!!)
