Storekeeper, Third Class. Service in the Pacific Theater. Did this guy steal the strawberries?

I dont think so but I do believe be duplicated the keys!!!

What always throws me for a loop with these uniforms is that they are SO SMALL....I think instantly that they have to be well over 100 years old because the common child of 15 would not fit into that uniform......this uniform was flawless, it looked like it came off the production line yesterday and I am no expert but I thought w/o a doubt it was wool....The seller made no claims....just "buy this for $55".... if it was WW2 Navy which was in combat I think it was a no brainer...am I mistaken?? Oh, by the way, it came with a set of 3 ball-bearings

The average G.I. in the war, no matter what his service was 17 to 19. They were kids in about every sense of the word. Very small, Army uniforms are the same. 100% wool. I would love to know what the ball bearings were for, other he had them in his possession. When you are dead, one size fits all. I actually know a guy who can wear one, and he is a small guy really.

I'm not a collector, but if this is an original piece for $55, I don't see how you could go wrong.

I thought it hinky because it was in such great shape with no maker marks.....I was hoping ACW that squeezed between the cracks of history......regardless I think it it is a find ......came across at least 10 of these in my professional life and never understood the potential until the last 10 years

The Navy uniforms can be very difficult to find a label. They hide them, but no intentionally. Under the flap, or sometimes in the neck or on the hem of the shirt. Sometimes the sailors removed them, but a lot of times they left them in place and write their names or serial number on them. The Navy was big on stenciling, using white paint over a stencil with your last name and first initial or last initial and last 4 digits of your serial number. They usually marked shirt and pants in this manner, but not always.

Great uniform! love original wool!! Ww2 era $55 is retail area nice with original ribbons patches. Most often these are removed!

Appears to be in great shape. Nice clean piping. It is the Dress Blues of a Storekeeper Third Class. The ribbons are (L to R) American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and WW2 Victory Medal. The device on the right breast is a Discharge Patch.
Thanks for sharing!
