I think it was him, Henagan and Kennedy who were recommended for promotion to brigade command. However, Conner was assigned before being wounded. Henagan himself was also KIA (I believe it was Cedar Creek)

It was Col John W. Henagan, who was recommended for promotion to brigade command. Its looks like he was going to command the brigade in the Carolinas if he had not died on April 22nd, 1865 on Johnson's Island, Ohio. He was captured at 3rd Winchester.
