McGilvery's Line

Hello
Where in was McGilvery's artillery line posted late on July 2? Am I correct in assuming that it wasn't up by where the park service road is now but at a point a bit further west?

Thanks
Ken
It was located on high ground east of Plum Run behind the Trostle Farm. This link takes you to a historic marker that shows the location.

Adding to that for a few more visuals, it stretches from Father Corby's monument and the G. Weikert House on the South end of the line, North to the Pennsylvania State Monument.
It's an open impressive area, panoramic, with a sweeping view seeing much of the July 2-3 battlefield; Little and Big Round Top to the south with the Federal line going north to Ziegler's Grove. West of course are a few well known farmsteads, the Emmitsburg Road/Ridge and the beautiful mountains. It's a great place to get out and see the cannon and walk down to Plum Run, retracing the 1st Minnesota's charge near the PA Monument.
A few concerns to be aware of:
** Ticks are prevalent and a serious issue if out and walking the area or down to the run
** And....some of the Bucks are in rut and will be aggressive (thru Dec), seeing everything as a threat. Some folks don't realize Doe can be aggressive as well so be alert.
