Looking for my ancestor.

I doubt if he was in the CS army. East Tenn was pro-Union and he was 13 when the war broke out. His folks would have made sure to keep him from joining up, if he'd had a mind to.

Wonder why it puts those smileys there?

There should be a colon ( : ) followed by a capital P, but the software reads that as code for a smiley face with tongue sticking out, so automatically puts that in. If you edit it, it should stay as the colon P.

[EDIT: my original post had open paren, colon, closed paren, and it made it into a smiley face, closed paren.]

I know you're right, but when I first read your post, it was like " what the ***** is he talking about!!!

I think you may have had some family in the war, maybe on both sides as there were some with that last name in both databases from Tenn.

I am not sure why he would be in the Missouri infantry since he was from Tennessee?

And that Missourian may not be him. I checked 1860 Census records and found at least one "A. Blackburn" named Augusta.

Belle,
When your looking up ancestors one of two things will happen. Your hair will turn white from aggravation, or, you will become overly fond of your favorite adult beverage (except in my case where both have happened) the good thing is you've come to the right place....welcome from Kentucky.
