If I've read correctly she was a cousin by marriage,not blood, to Albert Sidney Johnston.And was his second wife.She once said "I think of myself as much of a fixture in Texas as one of it's live oaks".

Her book on watercolors of 101 Texas Wildflowers was published in 1972 as "Texas Wild Flowers". The original was one of the relics donated to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
