Researching for an article on Stuart and a CDV that is in my collection, it was taken in Hagerstown
Maryland, by photographer E. M. Recher. Seeking any first hand accounts on Stuart during this time period and any info or opinions.

Thanks!

I can only pin down Stuart for any length of time in Hagerstown on the retreat from Gettysburg.
Stuart spent a total of 6 days there after the battle of Gettysburg.
Recher was a well known photographer who had his gallery on the square downtown.
Only other known copy of this photograph is housed in the Valentine museum in Richmond, Va. with the E M. Recher backmark as well.
