What is this? Is this a real cannonball?

It is 2.9" and weighs 3.92lbs?
 
Could be from a 32lb stand of grape which each grape shot measured 2.875. Like @John Winn ask where was it dug?

The diameter & weight are those of a 4 pound cannon ball. That was a Revolutionary War era round. At this point, mill weights are as likely an answer. As Holmes would say, we need more data.

The shot tables I have say a 4 pdr was 3.12 inches in diameter and weighed 4.07 pounds. What is your source ? Just curious.
