Confederate Cannon Foundries, Daniel & Gunter, 1977, agrees with the sign and adds "The N. O. Picayune of Sept 4, 1861 noted that several 18-pounder cannon had been turned out at the firm."

There's a great deal of information in that little book.

Yeah I did a search the other day asking who took over Barksdale's Mississippi Brigade after his death at Gettysburg and it cited an officer from some New York State regiment. LOL I've tried it again and did not get the same result. Maybe leaning from its mistakes?

Maybe it will simply convince people in the future that Barksdale actually was replaced by a NY officer.
