Help With Ordnance ID Please

Hello fellow CW passionistas. Need some help from y'all to identify this shell. Recently inexpensively purchased and has me a little perplexed. Weighs in at 17 pounds, 8.5 inches long, approx 3 inches wide with fuse (?) at the top. The taper at the rear of the shell is what has me confused. Does anyone know what type of shell this is and is it Civil War (if it's a shell at all)? Thank you in advance!

It sure doesn't look like anything I've seen. At most a really bad attempt to knock off a Schenkl - but without any rifling or obvious setup for a sabot.

Before the Poster Spelling Police stop and frisk, remember that this is "ordnance" and not "ordinance" (which refers to laws at the municipal level). We don't want to come in and post bail. By the way, most people do this. That "i" can be pesky even for lawyers. As one of them, I have to remember to leave it out when I'm referring to projectiles, etc.

First I've heard that one - and, as you might assume, I've heard a lot of lawyer jokes that cover the range from * all the way up to ***** (using the Amazon rating system).

I've never seen a CW shell that looks like that. Interesting looking piece.
