Gun question

My husband's grandfather (yes you read that right!) was in the Civl War—8th Infantry Co C from Limestone Co. Tennessee. My husband has a cousin who has possession of his grandfather's gun (pictures attached below.)
Would it be possible or feasible to have a replica or reproduction of this gun made and if so, could you point me in the right direction?

It would appear that you have a sporterized Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifle-Musket. These are commonly reproduced by Italian companies as well as custom built shooters in the United States.

The current made Italian replicas/repros are from Pedersoli and Armi Sport (Chiappa). Formerly, Euroarms (Italy) and Parker Hale (UK) made P53s and can be found on the used market.
Did I leave any out, guys ?

What's the purpose of the replica or reproduction? That could possibly effect the cost of getting one.

Gosh thanks so much! I definitely came to the right place to get this figured out!

That's a great question. He would LOVE to be in possession of the actual gun but that won't ever happen. I didn't know if it was even possible to come up with a replica much less one that actually fires. That would be over the top cool! But if it's not feasible, I think he would be happy to have one that doesn't.
I'm afraid to ask a guesstimate on what it might cost! Any ideas?

Welcome! A great family heirloom: I can understand why the 'baby can't be cut in half'! Fortunately, a reproduction- or maybe even an actual original- might make a new heirloom for your children.

I asked the question what's the purpose of the replica or reproduction?
If it has to be a shooter, then any of the Italian imports could do that.
If it's just to be a wall hanger, (non-firing) then this might be your cheapest option. With a little modification it could look like the one in your picture

While I agree with you, it all depends on your financial situation.

I just thought the lady might be interested in options.

I noticed they didn't get high reviews, but it seemed to me those that were disappointed were expecting a functional gun.

Oh my gosh! That's totally do-able on the price! I'm going to look around at some of the companies that have been mentioned too. I appreciate your input so much!
