I always consider stews when think of soups. Since Jan. soup month thought add this stew recipe. Frogmore Stew is a true taste of Lowcountry South Carolina.

Frogmore Stew:

Several bottles of beer and some water
1/2 cup of seafood seasoning
Tabasco sauce to taste
15 new potatoes, unpeeled
4 ears of fresh corn, shucked, silk removed and broken into 2 03r 3 inch pieces
1 (16 ounce) package smoked sausage. Cut into 1 inch pieces, browned and then drained.
3 pounds of large fresh shrimp in shells

In a large pot, mix beer, water and season with seafood seasoning and Tabasco. Bring to a boil and add the potatoes. Cook for 15 minutes. Add corn and sausage. Cook for 5 more minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until they are pink, about 5 minutes. Drain. Serve with lemon slices and cocktail sauce.

Such a yummy dish!

Awesome sauce Donna!
We also called this a Lowcountry Boil!
Sometimes we would add fresh crabs from the river! Was also served when we had oyster roasts! Outside around the big open fire pit. Bushels of oysters to be roasted and shucked and eaten with the stew! I learned how to shuck an oyster before I could walk! My family would dump it all out on newspaper covered tables.
And of course, there was beer. Lots and lots of beer!
