Just tried, it didn't work.

I entered a famous photo of the USS Monitor, the response was " no face detected . . try again".

Booooooo. I guess it only works on faces. SO do one and post your results.

In all seriousness, I plan to enter a World War One photo of my Grandfather taken during 1918 and another image of him taken around 1937.

Unfortunately, my scanner crashed last month, so it might be a few days.

But, I will post the result.

That's an intriguing app all right! A while back we had a thread on whether or not a picture was of Billy the Kid. Maybe if that's run through it might tell us! (Except there wasn't much face on the disputed picture....) There's been a couple thought to be Forrest - one I think is a relation of his, possibly an uncle, and there's a couple family pictures on Larry's thread of people thought to be Forrest's brothers or half-brothers.

This critter has lots of possibilities around here!

Women are better at facial recognition than men? Hmm. Could be. Indian women, especially us grandmas, are always looking at the kids and trying to figure out who they look like! (Sometimes trying to figure out who daddy really is... )

Now this is the one I am really interested in matching. The one on the left is the famous drawing of Loreta Janeta Velazquez; the one on the right is a picture that is rumored to be of her. I think it could be, esp. when you look at the lips, the distance between her eyes, the shape of her forehead and of her face, the shape of her chin, the width of her mouth, etc. etc. ad lib.

That was always my thought. The younger one is my GGG Grandfather Jackson Randolph of the 16th Georgia Inf. The older man all I know about him was that he lived in Jackson County which is where my Jackson Randolph was from.
I always thought the first pic was 1861 and the last one was late war. That is after 4 years with Lee's army.

Kidding aside, this could be very useful.

That's interesting, as it does look just like him, but someone 'trained' in facial comparisons would give your example a 0% because the ears are a 100% mismatch.

I wonder what kind of match you would get with a known photo of John Wilkes Booth and the guy who claimed to be him in Oklahoma in the early 1900's??????? (his photo does exist)

I'm not sure about the mouth / chin distance there. They do look very similar but I think there's more than a four year age difference, and generally people's chins don't get smaller as they mature. Possibility a close relative?
