Envelope, is this authentic?

[Tin cup]

A friend bought this envelope years ago at a gun show. He gave it to me, am wondering if it's a repro, or original?

Appears to be an original, or a very old facsimile, it has all of the physical characteristics.

Looks like the Real Deal to me too. I've bought a few of these, some at gun shows.

I wouldn't even know it's value if it's original?

I've had the opportunity to handle quite a few originals; this is certainly of the type. Soldier's used all sorts of paper as well. I handled a letter written on the paper from an St Louis arsenal pack and another from the Indianapolis arsenal.

Nice find.

According to the NS Trader Price Guide a color patriotic unused cover, ranges from $20-$100; I'd say yours is closer to the upper end as it is early and deals with an important figure. I only use the price guide for items such as this and not cloth or weapons.

I also believe it to be real cover

Looks right as rain to me. Now if it was a CS cover it would be worth a WHOLE lot more.

Neat envelope, I have a collection of family letters written during the war my grandparents passed on to me. This one is the most interesting being it has the envelope and was written on patriotic paper.

Ours were lovingly hand printed on the back of wallpaper instead of the mass-produced Union stuff.
