This is old recipe for coffee made with egg. It was in "The Household Searchlight Recipe Book", early 1920s. These were recipes from women across the country who received "The Household Magazine".

Rinse coffee pot with boiling water. Measure coffee into pot, allowing 1 tablespoon coffee for each cup of water. Combine coffee with slightly beaten egg, using 1 egg for each 8 tablespoons of coffee. Pour measured amount of freshly boiled water over coffee and egg. Heat to boiling. Boil 3 minutes. Strain and serve at once.

Egg coffee was pretty standard coffee in small town southern Minnesota churches into the 1970s; my parents didn't make it at home, but were always glad to have some while visiting family. At home they were using percolators through the 1960s (which they were never as happy with, but were less hassle I guess), and then switched to the drip-type early on.
