Lee Deification of Robert E Lee

you might have noticed that i spell any word lower key - the reason is i'm a a very bad typist. it also was the way to type emails when i started using them in the 80s; nobody used capitals back then not even in german and there are a lot more than in english
I just thought you were related to e.e. cummings!:giggle:

wwhat can be said for a man who turns his back on his country and kills over 300,000 Americans if it wasn't Robert E Lee you would say hang that individual for treason. Everyone wanted a piece so we all walked away and so did he, in the end the North one and the south came out with fairytales to explain the reason they had all their young man killed another 300,000 or more for what so some individuals could stay wealthy How sad isn't this the way of the world and how do we justify it first we say our generals were the purest man and honorable individuals otherwise we have to admit we followed blindly into a war that should have never been aand so we hang a halo on treason and call it wonderful magnificence this is the folly of men.

Interesting - I wasn't aware that the Army of Northern Virginia killed 300,000 Yankees. (or did you mean Rebs, too?)
If Lee's army by itself had killed THAT many yanks, the south WOULD have gained independence.

Being a distant relative of General Lee on mom's side, Lee was always a hallowed and respected name in my family. Going story was my grandmother's great-great-grandfather had a huge portrait of him over the fireplace in Uvalde, Texas.

So, I may be a bit biased, but Lee was definitely head-and-shoulders over most Confederate leadership, a man worthy of honors and respect despite what these SJW bullies these days want to push.

But I also think it does the man no service to turn him into a God, he was just as flawed as guys like Forrest, and I think that makes him more endearing.

iit's nice to know everyone can count but it was the intent not the accuracy so maybe it was more like 100,000 or maybe 125,000 what's the difference after all it's only men if you were trying to prove your point let me know the difference..

No similarity. What I was saying is that I'm not a fan of Lincoln's deification. In my book, Old Abe's halo fell off, rolled out the door, and into the river. I think Bobby Lee had more honor and integrity in his little toe than Abe Lincoln ever had.
yes I believe all traders feel they have done the right thing,, but lee knew the truth that is why after the war he did not speak about it like the other generals he knew the truth and he knew what would happen if he did it was people like Grant who saved his neck from the gallows if Johnson had his way and no one in the United States Senate would have stopped him from doing it.

I didn't know he was a trader.

stop. Now. I believe that @civilken may or may not use the same system that I sometimes use: a voice activated trascriber that sometimes cannot tell of the intricacies of the English language, thus, little verbal inaccuracies leak through.
