This Biography has him as colonel of the 20th South Carolina, another source puts him as head of the 22nd South Carolina. He was killed along with 16 of his men by canister shot at Redoubt Dutton. General Beauregard issued General order #12 renaming this Battery Dantzler.

Could not have been Colonel of the 20th. That was Lawrence Keitt's regiment. Keitt was killed at Cold Harbor, and It seems whatever regiment he was a part of, Dantzler was already the Colonel by the time of the Hunley-Housatonic attack. So, my guess would be that he was the Colonel of the 22nd South Carolina (part of the Tramp Brigade).
