I need a to know a value as it's owner wants a bracelet I have, and I want $! not a CS buckle. I've collected militaria for over 50 years and have the free world's supply of "stuff". What I need now is just to generate cash and pare down.

Interesting plate but I'm not touching this one based on photos alone. I would need the dimensions in mm and the lick test.

Lol!! I don't know what a "lick test" is but... the dimensions are:

70mm x 45.2mm and there is a "bend" in the middle ( a slight one....) and the ends are/have been impacted somewhat so, it may originally measured 71mm perhaps? or 70.5mm? The thickness measured w/a electronic caliper is 2.7, 2.73,2.68,2.94 etc. So there is a slight (.25mm) difference here and there across the rim and letters. The "valleys" (the background depth) measures approx. 1.57, 1.88, 1.78, in various places.

This was found in a coffee can a person brought in some time back as scrap brass. $2 a pound.

The issue here (provided it's authentic) is that the bracelet he wants from me is $1250.00 That and I would like to know a venue of sale for it as I don't deal in such as this often.

I have dug many original CW plates and one thing they all have in common when you lick them is they taste like dirt. When you fake a patina they have an acid taste as in order to fake a patina you use an acidic compound and when you lick them they will have an acid taste.:hungry: On the dimensions it should be 46.2mm X 72mm so that is off. Then you have to ask yourself why would he sell a plate worth $4500 - $5000 for $1250. Things that make you go HUM.

Ok I had NO idea they were worth that kind of $. That said, I've been told that the "spun hooks" are never/can't be easily faked... is that true? Have any of you persons familiar w/these seen fakes w/the spun (apparently bent afterwards) hooks?

Yep. Here is one.

Hmmm.... that one you show is/has a poor sand cast pair of letters. Not that that's all wrong w/it.

Scroll down to pic #8, it matches my lettering exactly.

All lettering is going to look the same as they used originals to make the mold. There are several other fakes with the same swirl hooks not being able to hold it in my hand plus the demisions being off that's your call. Also the patina just doesn't look right for a dug plate
