In the election just before the war there were only 2 people who voted for Lincoln in the town of Paris, Kentucky. Croxton was one of them. His vote was so unpopular that he had to go to the polls armed.

When he was wounded at Nashville he leading a brigade that played a conspicuous part in Hood's army being routed. What exactly did this brigade do at Nashville?
