Back a bit we had folks advocate States Rights as if they were some gold plated expression of political statesmanship purity only to have the gold rub off as we looked at the slavery, jim crow, civil rights denial aspects came out until they are now States Rights are viewed as mere political expediency.

Now let's take a look at Coercion-Southern Style brought forth as innocent pristine Southern States forced--forced into secession by Lincoln's call for troops. Will we find gold or will we find another tired melodrama.

The secession movement in Virginia 1847-61 (no online resources) I think @cash recommended this. I was practicing sleep reading and was forcibly forced awake by the following on P191. A discussion of what VA secessionists thought about coercion. Coercion seems to be on the same level as resenting paying taxes. Nullification is a better term. Let's discuss.
