SIM Game Civil War Computer games

I also recommend Mosbey's Confederacy. you play as Colonel Mosbey and his Shenandoah guerillas. Your missions surround capturing horses, weapons, raiding Union camps. And when you aren't needing certain men, you can house them in Confederate loyal villages and families.

If you can get it working, (I've been unable to get it to work on Steam for years) I highly recommend Take Command: Second Manassas. Back during its heyday, we had a very lively community and it's got some incredible mods for it. A Revolutionary War mod, a Napoleonic War mod and tons of fan made battles and OOBs (you can even make your own).

I had Take Command: Second Manassas let a reenactor friend borrow it but then never saw it again sadly. :(

I commanded a few of the armies in the MadMinuteGames community scenario battles (MMG being the forums that NordSoftware, the games developers ran) that was run using the TK:2M game. I still maintain that I beat every army of the Rebs I ran against, even if the other members claim it was a draw! lol

Many of the reenactors I "know" were members of that online community, including one man who was involved in Gods and Generals reenacting with the 20th Maine and informed me of the Antietam battle scene that got deleted years before the Director's Cut was released.

Yeah, books, games, music, favorite pens... that always sucks.

I gave a cousin for some random reason two copies of Battle Cry of Freedom on loan (I had a paperback and a Hardback). I told him he could keep one, and he a week later returns the paperback all torn up. He had pulled the covers off and proudly told me, "I'm keeping the Hardback". I went to his house, a mile away, took back the still pristine Hardback, and shipped it off to Professor McPherson to sign it and left my cousin the ratty copy.

Strategically, AGEOD's Civil War II is one of the best out there. I played the heck out of the original years ago and this update seems to have ironed out a lot of the wrinkles of the first one.

Tactically, I personally prefer the John Tiller games. I'm not a huge fan of real-time gameplay and prefer the turn-based games (probably a holdover from my old tabletop wargaming history).

Good move on your part! Hehe, why does every family have that guy/gal who destroys whatever is borrowed and then wants to call you selfish and stingy when you won't loan them things? smh

I tried out War of Rights yesterday and joined a unit for an event. Was actually impressed that they included the Manual of Arms into the game.

We were the 126th New York for the skirmish scenario and our battalion had 78 people. Here are a few screenshots

Man, that brings back memories. I had that on a hard disk back in the day. So much fun, had no idea it ever had such a lively community.
