2-Player Computer Games?

Any of the WDS titles.

I would highly recommend any of their Civil War games.

Vassal also has a pretty extensive library that are basically digital translations of board games.

Any that are live action (like a video game) rather than turn-based like a board game? I've played single player games and they are great fun vs computer, but my son and I want to play against each other.

I don't know much about video games, but WDS does seem to be the place to go. They even have their own forum (however it's not as great as CWT :D). One game that seems to be pretty high rated is Ultimate General:Civil War, but I'm not sure about multi-player functionalities. (You also have to have Steam)
I'm pretty out of the loop on this stuff. @TallTallMan should know more than I.

For once I can't think of any, but I think Ultimate General is the one.

Grand Tactician: The Civil War 1861-1865 might be another one to take a look at. I've played it and it's pretty good. I would highly recommend getting the DLC Whiskey and Lemons because it adds a really playable mode in which you start a career as a Civil War officer and can play through the war including promotions, wounds, etc. I found out the hard way that you can in fact be killed in action.

VTH gaming did a YouTube series on that dlc if anyone wants to see what it looks like

If you want to go back a little more for a good strategy game Civil War Generals 2 could also be played with 2 players via email since it is round-based (by now available for free e.g. over here).

As for directly online and more action there'd of course be the very tactical shooter War of Rights (available on Steam).

Yes

Here's the link. Napoleon can be purchased from steam. I do not work for either company nor am I sponsored

No, not interested in tactical shooters. Basically we want Ultimate General in multiplayer mode.
