How do I get OG looking chevrons? Most new ones look too bright for my personal liking.

• I would suggest boiling in tea...but it won't be Olive Green; more like beige.

Federal or confederate? If confederate black works for all branches after late 62-63. Use branch colors otherwise and those are still appropriate till the end. Feds would be branch color. As for material, I know that some were silk, wool, and probably cotton. This brightness you mentioned will dim a little after being used a little.

The chevrons should have the same weathered look as your sack coat or shell jacket.

Sew the chevrons onto your tunic. Then wear your tunic everywhere. Do your yard work while wearing it. Let the weather and Mother Nature age them.
