"Paragraph 14, General Orders No. 147 of 2 August 1862 [After the reorganization of the ambulance system by Medical Director Jon. Letterman of the AoP. General Orders No. 147, Army of the Potomac, 2 August 1862].
The uniform of this corps is: For privates, a green band 2 inches broad around the cap, a green half chevron 2 inches broad on each arm above the elbow, and to be armed with revolvers..."
I have a few questions concerning the uniform.
Obviously a forage cap could be sewn with a green band, and a kepi may have a green band sewn around... well, the band.
However, the green chevron's which I found at "thehistoricdepot" are each embroidered, and made with different materials. Would the chevron for a private be embroidered, painted, or plain?
Would any of the ambulance corps privates have a green trim to follow the green color scheme?
What kind of coats would members of the ambulance corps wear? Fatigue blouses, frock coats, or shell jackets?
As somebody who wishes to get as many impressions as I can (just for the fun of it), as well as have a different outfit to show off should I bring by myself at an event, I want to have a good looking, but still accurate looking uniform.
Thanks for any information one may have!
