Hi all I recently purchased a Burnsides carbine that I would like a little research help with.
SN28723
Has a capital T carved in the stock as well as a stamp reading A.K.P TWOMBLY. Co.R
First question is does anyone know what the Co.R under the name indicates. The stamp is this part is hard to read so the R could be anther letter.
It came with a certificate indicating a serial range match to either the 2ND IL or the 3RD Ohio cavalry.
My search of the stamped name however comes up with only one possible match from the 2ND Main, of Twombly, Albion K. P.
Can anyone check the SRS lists and tell me if the range match is the same as the certificate.
Any other sources anyone can suggest for trying to tie this gun to Albion Twombly would be appreciated.
