Very Nice 2nd model. I love the patriotic token in the stock. These 2nd model saw a lot of early war service. Serial number normally appears three times, on the top of the breech, top of the receiver, and bottom of the barrel. The serial # range from 300 to 2300. They had no saddle ring, forearm or bands. They were soon replaced with other models that had a lot of improvements. Yours is a very rare early model. I'm not right at my SRS so lets see if @JOHN42768 can look. Nice piece and I will say it again. "Love the token"

#485 is not listed #434 and #489 are both listed. CoB 1st NJ Vol Cav. Does not mean yours is also.

Very nice! I too love the token. Looks like the serial number is 483, is that correct? The closest in the SRS is 489 assigned to Company B 1st NJ Volunteer Cavalry

I make the serial number 485. So appears not to have made the listings

Gee, I wish I had a wife that bought me Civil War guns.....

Can someone please tell me where the third stamping of the serial number is found on a Burnside? Is it somewhere inside on breech/breech mechanism? A picture would be really handy....thanks.
