Hello to everybody on the forum I'm super excited to have recently been added to your community I came across this site in my research towards identifying a buckle that I recently acquired. I wanted to put it up to you experts in hopes that someone might be able to share the little light on exactly what this buckle is. It has a leather backing and a war eagle on it. I found several similar buckles but none with leather and nowhere did I see an eagle with the legs stretched out horizontally as this one has. If there's anybody who can shadow little light on this for me I would be so grateful. As I look at it there is no part of it that suggests that it isn't old but I'm not sure if it's an actual Civil War relics or early 1800s buckle
