Buckle identification

Hello to everybody on the forum I'm super excited to have recently been added to your community I came across this site in my research towards identifying a buckle that I recently acquired. I wanted to put it up to you experts in hopes that someone might be able to share the little light on exactly what this buckle is. It has a leather backing and a war eagle on it. I found several similar buckles but none with leather and nowhere did I see an eagle with the legs stretched out horizontally as this one has. If there's anybody who can shadow little light on this for me I would be so grateful. As I look at it there is no part of it that suggests that it isn't old but I'm not sure if it's an actual Civil War relics or early 1800s buckle

Welcome to the forum.
To me the stye of the eagle looks to be modern and I suspect that it isn't a buckle but possibly from a horse bridle or something similar. I'm sure someone will have more information.

Welcome from THE Heart Of Dixie. It is not a buckle but a saddle martingale, and I haven't seen a CW one like this so I don't have a clue to its age but I'm going post war.

Thank you so much. For the info and the fine welcome. I am going to look at rivets to determine the style and the dates that it could possibly have been manufactured. I know that is a lot of how they date old levis blue jeans.
