I've noticed that the captain of the ship that Alvarez Kelly (William Holden) made travel arrangements with spoke with a Scottish accent. Could he have been modeled after this man? Joannes Wyllie is it?

I'd never heard of Joannes Wyllie before. But definitely have heard of the Advance.

Did a little(very little) research on him and can't help notice that the Ad-vance is spelled with a hyphen in it. Was it really spelled that way or is someone just trying to be "cute"?

Never seen it with a hypen.. I have seen it Advance, and A.D. Vance, but never that way...

Needless to say, this is going on my Amazon wish list

Yes it's written both forms but usually as A.D.Vance in contemporary reports.

I am happy to say that my book is now in print here in the UK and will be available in North American from October/November (re orders can be made from your preferred online shop).
