Unidentified Confederate Blockade Runner.

It is believed the painting shows the blockade runner Scotia being pursued by the US bark Restless. The Scotia was run aground and captured in Bull's Bay, S.C. on October 24, 1862.

As a postscript.

After her capture, believe the Scotia (1) was sold by a prize court to private interests who returned her to blockade running as the Fanny and Jenny. Under this new name, she was chased aground and destroyed while trying to enter New Inlet, while heading for Wilmington by the USS Florida (not to be confused with the CSS Florida) on Feb. 9, '64.
